The GBSH East London Healthcare Scholarships are for students who live or 女性衛生 work in East London and are keen to make a difference for their local community. Being part of UCL East and therefore a part of the East London community, we want to help develop the local talent in health and healthcare management and leadership. We are a society dedicated to supporting women and women-identifying people at Barts in their journey here. Although they live longer than men, women spend a greater proportion of their lives in ill health and disability, and there are now growing geographic differences in their life expectancies.

NHS England is addressing health disparities for those with MSK conditions through the NHS Best MSK Health programme, including those related to sex. We are working with NHS England to improve access to high-quality, integrated and sustainable secondary fracture prevention services. These services help prevent fragility fractures through identifying, assessing and initiating treatment in those at increased risk. In the written submissions, organisations raised concerns that the healthcare system doesn’t focus enough on older women’s healthcare needs and experiences.

Students studying medicine in England will now have to pass mandatory training to diagnose and treat female health conditions as part of plans to improve women’s health. The strategy aims to ensure that women attending routine services for HIV/AIDS and female reproductive health, who are aged between 15 to 29 years old, are routinely offered FGS preventive treatment. The funding generated by membership is not always sufficient to provide the resources needed to maximise education on women’s health and therefore the financial contribution made by corporate sponsors supports the yearly educational programme to be accessible to all its members. However, the PCWHF has a policy of being transparent regarding funding received from the pharmaceutical industry. There’s also a clear recognition both from healthcare professionals and the trans and non-binary community that the majority of people accessing these services will be cisgender women . Nada co-founded Women Speakers in Healthcare to help make women leaders visible and inspire a network of supportive women and men to speak up for greater equity in all walks of life. As a result of the bias against women in healthcare, the women’s health sector has been severely underfunded. The lack of research into conditions that predominantly affect women means that there is a huge space for innovation, which could impact the lives of nearly 50% of the population.

It is not just victims of abuse that appear to be at higher risk of suicide, but also children and young people who witness domestic abuse and are victims in their own right, and perpetrators themselves. We will look at the role that family hubs might play in supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse. In the public survey, only 9% of respondents said they had enough information about specialist services such as sexual assault referral centres and female genital mutilation clinics.

We also know that, when women do seek help for health problems, they do not always feel listened to or their concerns taken seriously. We are determined to place women’s voices at the centre of their health and care, both at the level of individual patient–clinician interactions, and at the system level. This makes levelling up women’s health an imperative for us all and will support progress towards the government’s commitment to extend healthy life expectancy by 5 years by 2035. We will therefore continue to invest in new programmes of work to improve women’s health throughout the life of the strategy as new funding opportunities arise.

Previously, the UK didn’t record miscarriages on a national register, but campaigners and bereaved parents were calling for that to change. Transparency and provision for prospective parents will allow them to see how their local area performs to address the “postcode lottery” in access to IVF treatment. It’s part of the government’s long-awaited Women’s Health Strategy, which follows a call for evidence which produced nearly 100,000 responses from the public across England. At CES 2022, innovation within the healthcare industry was at the forefront of many conversations, seminars and exhibitors stands. Parental conflict is different from domestic abuse because there is not an imbalance of power, neither parent seeks to control the other, and neither parent is fearful of the other. Evidence suggests that, where parental substance misuse and parental conflict is not addressed, it can result in intergenerational patterns of harmful behaviours, including substance misuse and domestic abuse.
